E A Payne Memorial Prize Essay Winner

This periodic competition was created by the Baptist Historical Society to mark the contribution of the Rev Dr Ernest Payne CH for his work in Baptist history by inviting the submission of papers relating to Baptist life in the United Kingdom, or activities by Baptists from the UK beyond the borders. The several essays submitted this time offered a breadth of subjects, and the adjudicators agreed to award the prize of £500 to Roger Owen for his essay on "ORIGINS OF VICTORIA STREET BAPTIST CHURCH, GALASHIELS". It will be published in the Baptist Quarterly.
