Christine Lumsden (2013) A rich inheritance: Sir William Sinclair and Keiss Baptist Church. Baptist Historical Society, Didcot.
A rich inheritance tells the story of Sir William Sinclair and the church he founded in 1750 on his estate of Keiss, a small Caithness village in the north of Scotland. As an eighteenth-century Scottish soldier and landowner, Sir William was an unlikely founder of a Baptist church. This book rescues him from obscurity. For over 250 years, despite its isolated situation, Keiss Baptist Church has maintained its witness, continuing today through its active youth work. The history of the church reflects the problems caused by decline as the economy of the area fluctuated. Nevertheless their faithfulness to the gospel of Christ remains Sir William’s living legacy.
